Doop Them All With Priesthood Power

Hallo everyone! Doop=baptism in Dutch.  It was an awesome week which included.... -4 baptisms! It brought tears to my eyes as I watched them make sacred covenants with their Heavenly Father. It also reminded me of the covenants I have made in my life and how important they are to me. I'm so grateful for these righteous examples of faith to me! I'm so glad I have the opportunity to be a missionary and take a message that has greatly blessed my life to others.  -A crazy high man that confessed his love to me at our front gate and then peed on our wall. Did I sing really loudly in the shower just in case he came to kidnap us so Sister Woolsey would know? Absolutely. The funniest part is I didn't know he was hitting on me at the beginning because I don't know Dutch, so I was asking him questions about his life to see what he would love about the gospel. It's hilarious now that I look back on it. Fun times. (We are totally safe just so you know. Suriname is pretty sketch...

Mama is Using Her Spy Skills

Emily wasn't able to send pictures with her most recent email from the cyber, but have no fear--I have pictures.  She probably doesn't realize how many pictures have been taken and posted of her. Maybe she will be happier not knowing. We are grateful to the Bairds and Vermeerens for taking pictures and sharing them so we can see that bright smile and know she is okay. First, pictures from the Trinidad Port of Spain Mission Facebook Page: On their first day in Curacao, they took a hike and received some training and instruction. The very next day, the new missionaries traveled their areas. Emily is serving in Suriname. Here are some pictures from vermeerentrinidadmission.blogspot.com. Suriname airport pickup: Making cookies at Vermeerens Yep, I know that goofball:  The following pics go back to arrival day. This is her new companion, Zuster Woolsey. So happy to see her reun...

Zuster Mergenthaler is in Curacao!

From the wife of the mission president: Just a quick note to let you know that your missionaries have arrived safely in Curacao.  They will be spending two nights in the mission home with an orientation tomorrow as well as a hike in the morning.  On Thursday they will head off to their assigned areas in Suriname.  We appreciate your willingness to share them with us and the wonderful people of this mission.  You are blessed to have a wonderful Senior Couple in Suriname that take great care of our missionaries there and we will be visiting them every 6 weeks.  The Vermeerens have a wonderful blog that Sister Vermeeren posts on a daily basis so you can get glimpses of your missionaries in action! https://vermeerentrinidadmission.blogspot.com/ We also have a mission facebook page.  Trinidad Port of Spain Facebook Page.   We hope all these resources will help you to experience this wonderful adventure right along with your son/daughter.   Si...

T MINUS 5 DAYS!

Hoi van de MTC!  This week was pretty dang cool. I ship out for Suriname  on Tuesday at 3 am ! Woohoo. I'm so excited to use my Dutch to tell people about the great news of the gospel. I'll be traveling to a little island called Curacao first (On which they apparently speak 4 languages-Dutch, Spanish, Papimento, and Sranan Tongo), but I'm not sure if I'll stay there to train or fly to Suriname in the morning. We will see...but my next email will be from somewhere in the Caribbean/South America. I don't have much time, so I'm just gonna outline the highlights from this week.  -I taught two lessons by myself this week! That was pretty hard. I know now that going out to teach the gospel with a companion is inspired...whenever I didn't know what to say, I was completely on my own! It was a great learning experience though, and I feel like a better teacher for it.  -Sister McKinney and I made a mug cake and ate it with hangars because we didn't have utensils....

Back to Blogger??

Let’s see how this goes. Just a test.  These are pictures of Gavin feeding giraffes at the zoo.
