School's Out!

Last Thursday was the last day of school for the Iowa City Community School District. Ricky had a cute and simple preschool graduation. I can't believe he will be a kindergartner in the fall!
All of the kids are excited about summer, but as each child has a different personality, each had a different reaction to the last day of school. When I asked them, "What did you think about your last day of school today?"
Emily: "It was OK. I almost wanted to cry. The last day of school is kind of happy and kind of sad."
Makayla: "I'm glad it's over. I don't ever want to go back, but maybe I'll see Mrs. Hall this summer and that will make me happy."
Ricky: "I don't have to go to preschool anymore. How much longer until I'm a kindergartner?"
Andrew: "No more school?"
I'm sure the summer will fly by and we will all do our best to enjoy each other's company and the relaxation summer's flexible schedule brings.

I love how Makayla and Emily are holding hands...they are all sooooo cute! I love summer!!!

Gavin in a Million Words or Less

 Way back when Emily was in 6th grade, her teacher, Ms. Grey, asked parents to write about thier children in a million words or less. I posted what I wrote about Emily on our blog. I wish I were more organized and tech-savvy to find the link to that post and put it here, but I'm not. It's a nice idea that maybe I'll do later. Anyway, you get to read what I wrote to Gavin's fifth grade teacher who made the same requests of parents: Gavin is the youngest of seven children. His three oldest siblings have flown the nest, so he talks to them on the phone and looks forward to holiday visits. This summer, his oldest sister had a baby, so he’s an Uncle!
