Something about Sundays gets us all a little silly by the evening. I heard a few funny things from Makayla and Andrew today. You may not laugh because they are kind of "you had to be there" types of things, but I'm going to put them on here anyway just so we will remember them.
First, Makayla. On Sunday nights, we usually go for a walk or play a game together as a family. Tonight we played UNO. During the game, Andrew kept yelling, "UNO!" After the game, all of the kids were saying it in silly ways. Then, Makayla was quietly trying to count in Spanish. She wasn't doing it to be funny because only I could hear her, but this is what she said: "Uno, dos, tres, taco, . . what's next?" I started laughing and since the rest of the kids wanted to know what was so funny, we spent the next ten minutes counting in Spanish . . . "Uno, dos, tres, taco, nacho, burrito . . ." . . . .Like I said, you had to be there to get the full effect.
Andrew had two funnies. Before church, I gave him a couple of big marshmallows to snack on. I don't know where he learned this, but he put them on his eyes as eyeballs. He yelled at me, "Mommy, look! I have big eyebrows!" I had him repeat what he said a few times to be sure I didn't misunderstand, but he really did say eyebrows. In another conversation about the movie, Shrek, he said, "Shrek eats eyebrows." (instead of eyeballs)
The other funny thing happened as we were reading scriptures as a family later tonight. Right now, we're reading the story of Abinadi and King Noah in the Book of Mormon. I was explaining to the kids that one of wicked King Noah's priests believed the teachings of the prophet, Abinadi, and that priest's name was Alma. All of the sudden, Andrew perked up. "Elmo?! Elmo's in the scriptures?! I know Elmo!!"
