Since I was still overwhelmed with construction stuff, I let the kids do the decorating again (I think they have done most of the decorating each year since Sean was born). They're getting pretty good at it. We are a good team: they get everything out and decorate and I clean up and put away the mess when they're done.
In the background of the above pictures, you can see the doorway to our new bedroom and window screens I had yet to clean and reinstall in our windows.
There is something magical about a Christmas tree. The lights and ornaments are peacefully inviting. It's difficult to walk by a lit and decorated tree without pausing to look or touch. The little ones are really good at touching.
I don't mind that they touch. We try to keep the ornaments we don't want broken toward the top of the tree, but ornaments do break every year. Usually, most of the broken ornaments are just the glass balls that we use as "fillers" to provide more color.
As Christmas approaches, there were a lot of school parties and concerts. It was a rough week for Brooklyn's naps, but she didn't mind too much since shorter, interrupted naps meant seeing the kids at school.
Christmas Eve finally came and the kids were super excited about their new pajamas from Grandma.
The girls took over our old bedroom and we moved downstairs to our new room the day before Christmas Eve. Like all Christmas Eve's, it was a sleepless night. And since our door is right by the Christmas tree, we heard the pitter patter of little feet all night long. I tried to catch the sneakers with the camera.
Christmas Day was fun and relaxing. The kids were busy with their new toys and most of the day was spent playing, cleaning, putting stuff together, and organizing.
Yay! I believe I'm mostly caught up and it's not even Valentine's Day yet.
I'm sure I need to do some updating with those pictures along the side there. They are very out of date. Makayla has probably grown a foot since that picture was taken. I suppose I should work on finding some more accurate pictures of the kids.
