I wanted family pictures of our family dressed in our Sunday best on Easter, but this is what I got:

I know we will regret not taking our pictures, but I didn’t have the energy to fight for it considering how much I fight daily to get nine people together for prayer, scriptures, meals, chores, and school work. You know that scripture, “How oft have I gathered you as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings?” I’m wondering, why a hen? Because I am doing so much gathering that I have that hen beat out ten fold.

Our family participated with two other families in a “Welcome Home Missionaries” parade at our church. We all wore Surinamese dresses or “pongi’s,” and waved at ward members as they drove by in their cars, waving welcome signs and shouting greetings. It was pretty cute. A family driving by was nice enough to send us a picture with Rick in it.

That’s the closest thing we have for a family picture, and I guess that’s okay.

Each of the letters has a little description of a good quality Rick has on the back.

Makayla helped me illustrate a cheesey story I wrote about how we first met:

I also gave him Cadbury Mini Eggs for the 23rd year in a row. This is a pretty big deal because I bought them way back in February when COVID-19 was just ramping up and hid them in my drawer. Good thing because they were impossible to find last week.
We are all grateful for this good man in our lives and loved celebrating Easter and his birthday together. It was a pretty great day.

Here’s a different family picture from last week:

We also celebrated Rick’s birthday today. Emily and Ricky made him breakfast. Emily made him a tie for Easter. (Unfortunately no picture) She also made him this cute sign for him to see as he left the bedroom:

I made a lot of good food and cleaned and cleaned and made more food. (This is just like any other holiday around here, and I'm guessing, around the world. I wonder if there's a way to change this without being a Scrooge? Why are holidays so much work for Mom?)
The little ones enjoyed a long bike ride with Rick, and Sean made him a cute book.
