Makayla had a fun birthday yesterday. We love birthdays at our house and I think we all had a fun day as we celebrated with Makayla.
Ricky, Andrew, and I had lunch with Makayla at school. We also went to recess with her. Because the temperature was below 5 degrees (-15 with wind chill), the kids had indoor recess. We had recess in Makayla's classroom. Andrew loved seeing Makayla's class guinea pig, Squirt. After we had recess with Makayla, we saw Emily in the hall. So, we went to her classroom for indoor recess too.
Later that night, we had the party. The kids got to watch Parent Trap while we were waiting for Dad to come home with the pizza and root beer (Makayla's dinner request). When Rick got home with the pizza, Andrew yelled, "Happy Birthday Daddy!" I can't tell you how excited he was about this birthday stuff.
After dinner, Makayla opened presents. She got art supplies from Grandma and Grandpa Gudgel which she can't wait to use.
Grandma Mergenthaler made her a new birthday dress, which she loves. When Grandma makes these dresses, she also make a matching dress for the girls' Daisy Kingdom dolls. Makayla was so excited about the little dress that she put it on her pink Build-a-Bear, Rosabelle. She sleeps with Rosabelle every night. She is also excited about getting her birthday pictures taken in her new dress.
Grandma and Grandpa Mergenthaler also got her a jewelry-making kit. I don't know how I'm going to get Makayla to focus on doing her homework today after school with all these fun projects to work on.
From Mom and Dad, Makayla got a cute new coat, a shirt, a hoodie, hair things, and scriptures. I should mention that Makayla wore her birthday crown (from school) almost all day. Cute, huh.
After opening presents, we had cake and homemade ice cream. Delicious! You can see in the following picture that Andrew couldn't wait to get a taste of that cake!
We definitely had a fun day! Next birthday . . . Rick's in April.
