A few weeks ago, the boys dressed up as clowns:
I know . . . interesting outfits, huh?
Speaking of clowns, Ricky has said a couple of funny things lately.
Tonight at the dinner table, the kids were all talking about how school went. Ricky was telling us his friend's mom is out of town. He then pitched into a story about where she was and what she was doing. He said, "Oh, she's in Washington and she was probably looking at our old house today." He was presenting this idea as the truth and the girls called him on it. Makayla said, "That's not true Ricky. You're telling a lie." He angrily countered back, "How do you know Makayla? You can't see through my brain!"
The week our visitors left, it took me a few days to get into a good morning routine. My sleepless nights with Sean were making me want to sleep in later in the mornings and I was having a hard time getting up in time to get the kids ready for school. So, making lunches became very rushed. Ricky chose this crazy week to begin asking me to put a special note in his lunch every day. One morning, when I was very rushed, he asked me again to put a note in his lunch. I explained that I am just too busy in the mornings to put a note in his lunch. He said, "Well, Joey has a note in his lunch every day." I tried to downplay Joey's nice mom by saying, "Well that's too bad that he gets a note every day because he'll never be surprised." Ricky insisted that he needed a note in his lunch. I grumpily replied, "I just don't have time this morning." He said, "Well, if you don't write me a note, I'll write one to myself!!"
What else has been going on at the Mergenthaler Zoo?
Andrew is finally potty-trained. He was just about ready to tackle the task before he broke his leg. Since then, however, he had no motivation to go on the toilet. I promised Rick that when things settled down around here, I would be more consistent about encouraging Andrew to use the toilet. Last week, I insisted that he start wearing underwear and he has done very well.
Sean is just as cute as can be and still a very good, mellow baby. He has survived one month of chaos at the Mergenthaler house. He is starting to be awake more often during the day and smiles at us in the mornings. I hate to say this, but Ricky probably gets the most smiles out of him. I hesitate to say this because Ricky also makes him cry more often than anybody else. Ricky just loves his brother so much that he can't keep to an appropriate distance.
Sean gave Daddy a great big smile this morning. He already loves naps with Dad.

One more thing. I took Andrew to the fire station last week. He had a great time seeing the trucks and rescue vehicles.
