September and October of last year were no fun for Andrew. He was in a spica cast from his belly button to his ankle. Because of this, he couldn't take advantage of the activities that most two-year-olds love to do. One of these activities that he so missed was dressing up. Yes, boys dress up too, and this little boy is very particular about his wardrobe. With the approach of Halloween, Andrew was extremely excited about getting out our Halloween costumes so that he could dress-up for Halloween. He had been bugging me for a few weeks to get "Halloween" out. I kept telling him, "It is still September. We should wait until October." So, he continued to look for evidence to support the fact that I should get out Halloween now. His best evidences were found in the stores' Halloween displays and the fall decorations people were beginning to put out along our street.
Last week, I gave up the argument and got out the box. Every day since them, we have been graced with the presence of The Little Pumpkin.
The Little Pumpkin remained a pumpkin for three days straight. He took care to change the clothes he was wearing underneath the pumpkin. For example, at bed time he took off the pumpkin and his clothes, put on his pajamas, and then put on the pumpkin. He allowed me to wash the pumpkin one day during his nap. The Little Pumpkin appeared at preschool, in the backyard, and at every meal. The Little Pumpkin accompanied me to my visiting teaching appointments and to take the kids to school. I'm glad Andrew likes his pumpkin outfit so much, but there is a sad part to this story:

Although the pumpkin fit perfectly last year (when he couldn't wear it), it is just a little snug this year. He definitely doesn't seem to mind.
Andrew is particular to wearing the pumpkin, but if the pumpkin isn't available, he will also wear other outfits. Over the course of a week, we have seen a dog, a giraffe, a cowboy, Cinderella, a pink dinosaur, and a lovely witch in a purple dress.
How many days until Halloween? We will enjoy every minute of it.
