This past week was super fast. It felt like yesterday I was
writing an email to all of you. I have so many stories from this week. It was
kind of crazy, and yes, there was a time when the bidet had revenge this week,
but I'll tell you all about that in a little bit, haha.
After P-day on Monday, we had to rush back home, like a sprint from the church
home. It wasn't that bad but man, do I hate running. So after we rushed to get
ready, we were again out the door and on a bus to a lesson with an amigo or, in
other words, an investigator. After we got out of the lesson, which went well.
We had to sprint to another bus stop to catch a bus to dinner. After we got off
the bus, we sprinted to a member's house and had a peaceful dinner. During that
dinner, they tried to talk to me in castellano, which is what they speak here.
It's very similar to Spanish, just more slurred and bunched together. As we are
eating, the members are trying to talk to me, and I have no clue what they're
saying, so after they finish, I give my companion a look, and he translates it
all for me. After that crazy 'pday, we contacted that next day and I had to use
a bidet, but this time I used it cold, so it was better but it still sucked
because it's just straight uncomfy.
After contacting all day, we go to have this lesson with this guy whos really
scary and big and knows a lot about the bible. So we get into this lesson, and
it's going well. I have no clue what's happening, so I just decided to mess
with the kids and keep them distracted. But it turns out that my companion was
able to help our investigator see that the book of Mormon helps the bible, and
we were able to get him to read and pray about it, which was a huge miracle for
us. The next day we had a lesson with this girl named Deborah. Deborah had been
taught for a while but didn't want to go anywhere with it, so that lesson was a
lesson that was like a make or brake type deal. Anyways during that lesson, we
came to find out that she had read the book of Mormon and had prayed about it,
and then that same night that she prayed, she had a dream that god was waiting
for her at our church doors. So what do my companion and I do? We ask her to be
baptized!! He made me do it, but it made the experience much cooler. She said
yes! technically, she cants because her mom doesn't want her to, but we got a
yes, so I count it. After those impactful days, we had another one with a
couple of guys in a park, and this is crazy cause usually people don't want
anything, but these guys did want something, so it was a huge miracle for us.
Anyways on to my favorite part, the funny stories from this week. There are so
many, haha. I love my mission every day, and I get something new. ok, now I get
to explain why I said the bidet had revenge. So last week, I told you guys that
i was not going to use a bidet ever again because there just super weird well,
it turns out that I had to because we ran out of the necessities at the
beginning of the week, so I had to get blasted again for like three days in a
row. But the funny stories don't stop there. Ok, so in my mission, we have
really big dogs that, for some reason, have tones of muscles on them, and then
we also have dogs that don't have anything on them. So we were contacting one
day, and there were dogs in the street like there always are, but this time,
the dog started to bark at me. Hence, I stared it down, which turns out is
something i am not supposed to do because it makes the dog super mad, but I
didn't know that, so I stared it down till we got like 5 feet from it, then I
turned my head. As soon as I turn my head, I hear four little paws behind me,
and BAM, there is a beefy dog behind me, so I start to run. It starts to run,
so my companion calls to me and tells me to fake pick up a rock, so I do, and
the next thing you know, the dog bolts off, and I never saw that dog again. to
be honest, that's more scary than funny but looking back on it it's
funny—anyways on to the next. So yesterday, my companion and I were walking in
the street contacting and saw this dude. We can tell he's super drunk and out
of it, but we can't tell if he's dead, so my compaion slowly walks by and
converses on what to do with this guy. he decides to walk up to this guy, and I
decide to walk back. At first, my companion tries to wake the guy by tapping
him, but he does budge.
Then my companion tries to speak to the guy in his ear. But he doesn't move. I
am laughing because my compaion can't get this guy to wake. So we go one more
time, and my compaion shoves the guy, and he doesn't move. So we eventually let
the guy go, and we go to our appointment. But we decided to come back to see if
hes still there and if he were then we would make sure to check up on him. so
we went to our lesson, and the person didn't answer, so we decided to go and do
one more person. That person didn't answer, so we decided to head back to the
drunk guy. we got there, and the guys were not there, so I had no clue where
this guy was. Hopefully, he's healthy and safe, but I don't know. I have a
video of us after that I'll share. I will say I did want to get a pic with the
guy for my first story with a drunk guy as a missionary, but we didn't, sadly,
haha.
Anyways I love you all so much and reading about your adventures. I also know
that god lives and provides a way for his missionaries. I have seen this many
times. as many of you know, I don't know Spanish, and coming to Argentina, I
have no clue how to talk to people. Still, all of this last week, most of the
people we have bumped into are people who speak English, which is crazy because
it means I can be of help, and that's only one instance that has happened so
many times. I also know that god provides miracles. I shared some of the ones
that happened last week, but I see them daily. I hope you all have a great next
week!
