Hey, what's going on with all of my wonderful people?! I'm sure it's not much, ahaha. No, I'm kidding. I'm sure you're all doing well and can't wait to read about my week as a missionary.
I spent Monday with my zone leaders chilling out until the evening, then we got to work. Our first contact was this guy who's an evangelist. At first it's like the normal evangelist conversation. You know, like, we don't believe in anything else but the Bible and the common things. Well, at the end of it, we're like, "Yo, man, we've got to go, so can we end with a prayer?" He's like, "Ya, no problem." Well, he wanted to pray. We let him because if you want to pray, that's amazing. So he starts his prayer and it's all normal until this man starts speaking gibberish and saying a ton of weird stuff. Eventually, he stops and he's like, "Do you want to join me??" We respectfully decline and leave. So that was about it, haha. After that, we had a family home evening with a family and helped one of the zone leader's friends knock out some more principles before she gets baptized.
The next day we went out contacting for most of the day and in the afternoon went to the terminal to meet my next companion, Elder Arias. By the way, Elder Arias is a really cool guy. He's much better than my last companion. He's like the chillest guy you'll ever meet, so it's dope. We spent the rest of the day getting to know him and more contacting - normal missionary work.
On Wednesday, the biggest miracle happened. We did more contacting, but that night I had a meeting with the ward council. I didn't think we had much to share, so when it got to us, I was surprised when the Bishop said, "Elders, ready to fill the baptismal font next Friday?" Of course, we said yes. Two of our friends asked to get baptized. They were ready and talked to the Bishop. I was soo shocked 😲 I spent the next hour flipping out for the miracle that just happened.
Thursday was really good. Elder Sellers visited and it was a blast! We did everything from seeing dead dogs to talking about the political structure of Argentina. He also helped with the progression of our area by finding two gold contacts. And we ate one of the greasiest foods of all, called soupa Paraguayan. It's like this fried bread with cheese in the middle fried. This bread stuff is soo good but it sure runs through you, if you get what I mean.
Anyway, that was kind of my week. I hope you all know how much I miss and love all of you. Also, don't forget the Lord is watching out for you and will help you do the best you can! Give Him all you can, and He'll fill the rest.
Mucho amor,
Elder Mergenthaler
